I have just bought a Honda NSR 125 and it cuts out on me what could this be?

I can trick the bike when Iv got the bike in nutral and hit the electric start and push down into gear at the same time but then I get a little distance with it and the engine dies again I dont think its mechanical possibly electrical can anyone HELP PLEASE thanks
