Are there any tricks to prevent sunburning?

Okay, so i don't have red hair, but i do have a MILLION freckles on my face. And some on my arms. But i just want to know if there is anyway to prevent it other than just sunscreen? Cause i use a BUNCH of sunscreen and its a high SPF and i still burn really easily. Thanks for all your help! (:
