Help me remember a killer robot movie.?

I vaguely remember a movie about a killer robot from when I was a kid. The main detail I remember is that it was kind of a robot brain in some sort of case that could rebuild itself using any parts around it. It probably came out in the late 80s early 90s. I tried google first, but all I came up with is the movie Hardware, which sounds similar, but the robot looks nothing like I remember. It could just be childhood memories playing tricks on me, but can anyone help me find this movie?
